About us
Creating games with editable worlds takes 20k+ lines of well-optimised code and years of development. Bloxd gives you editable worlds in 5 lines of code, within 5 minutes.
Over the last few years, since I went full-time in June 2022, Bloxd has grown to a team of 8 with >11 million monthly players.

Our values
- Get shit done. Talk is easy, executing is much harder.
- Wear many hats. You’ll be involved in and implementing things end-to-end. E.g. product, game/ui design, community management, etc.
- Can work hard. Fundamentally, we’re an early-stage startup and there’s always more to do. (No crunch though. We do value free time, sleep, etc.)

To put this in perspective, this concurrent user count places Bloxd in the top ~100 of steam games [1] if it were on steam. None of those games have as much upside potential.
Bloxd growth opportunities
- Minecraft has a gamedev community. But Minecraft prevents the community from monetising their games the way they see fit. Bloxd providing a real platform for Minecraft modders to build their games & make a living is a billion-dollar opportunity.
- The power of web for distribution cannot be underestimated. Many wildly-successful games made their start on web. Minecraft, Binding of Isaac, Realm of the Mad God, and loads more, all started in browser.
- JavaScript and TypeScript are the most used languages in the world [2]. There are no good, widely used web-game engines. This taps into a massive community who grew up on web dev but want to make games.
Some extra context
- Most of the games on the bloxd homepage are first-party. We built them in order to get bloxd started. We only recently started enabling user-made games, and the tools have a long way to go. Come and help us build them :)
- Continuing to build great first-party games far into the future is core to our strategy. They push the boundaries of what is possible, and ensure bloxd is great to build with.
About you
What you would work on in your first month or two
- Create and manage your own game
- Develop new gameplay systems inside existing games
- Build new engine features to be used by other game developers
- Profile and optimise performance
- Work on our partner implementations (E.g. CrazyGames, Discord Activities)
- Develop an in-game item marketplace
We’re looking for someone who is
- Passionate about gaming, and excited to build great games. While we’re building a game engine, we’ll only be successful by continuing to create and enable amazing gameplay.
- A fast learner, always looking for new opportunities to grow. There’s an enormous amount for us to do, but we know there’s also an enormous amount for us to get better at. This requires us to improve when we fall down.
- Excited to own the work they do. We’re a small team, so everybody is responsible for a large portion of Bloxd.
Essential traits
- 1 to 4 years of professional experience in software engineering, game engine development, or game development. This can include revenue-generating side projects and internships.
- Experience developing games or game engines either through work or as side projects.
- A great eye for game design and product management.
Bonus traits
- Experience shipping successful live service games.
- We believe great engineers can pick up any technology. But experience with web technologies such as typescript, react, and node.js is a plus.
